Eagles Pic Of The Week
Okay.
I'll get it right out of the way and say that the mathematical odds standing between the Eagles and the playoffs this year are about as large as Ruben Studdard the day after Thanksgiving.
He's a big fat guy. And Thanksgiving is a holiday where you eat a lot. Get the joke?
The pic of the week has an interesting little tale behind it. What you see in the photo is the Eagles' Mike Lewis, defending a pass to the Giants' Amani Toomer (#81 in the blue jersey, there with his arms practically around Lewis). For some reason, the Eagles were charged with a pass interference penalty that singularly amounted to 42 yards of field-space for the Giants. AND resulted in a touchdown for the Giants in a 27-17 win over the Eagles, ostensibly serving as the final nail in the lid of our playoff-hopes-coffin. But this is the pic of the week because... um... see how Toomer's arms are around Lewis? Yeah, that means it was a bullshit call. Which means that had the officials called it accurately the touchdown could have been prevented, which means the loss could have been prevented, which means we wouldn't be talking about a playoff-hopes-coffin, we'd be talking about a playoff-hopes-...um... look, I'm not taking this well. I stayed home from work yesterday with a migraine, and it was most likely caused by my viewing of this game.
Interestingly enough (to quiet those currently questioning why the pic is smaller than usual), that Sunday evening, I came home and looked at the early posted photos from the game (which are usually in a smaller album on the Eagles homepage). From that, I selected the smaller version and figured I'd get the larger when they posted that full album. Monday afternoon, despite the physical pain of using the computer ('member that migraine?), I checked the photo album, and that pic wasn't there. So, I figure the NFL made them pull it, because it SO BLATANTLY SHOWS that there is no penalty, and if there were it would be OFFENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE AGAINST AMANI TOOMER! MOTHERFUCKING REFS!!!
The headache still hasn't totally gone away...
